Financial Police
The priority tasks of the Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza) are the prevention, investigation and reporting of evasion and financial violations, supervision of compliance with provisions of political-economic interest and surveillance at sea for financial police purposes.
Furthermore, the Financial Police contributes to the maintenance of public order and security and to the political-military defense of the borders.
Since its origins, the role of tax police has constituted the first and priority institutional commitment of the Guardia di Finanza. In this context, the fight against tax evasion has progressively expanded to include all those forms of illegality that cause damage to the budget of the State and the European Union (financial area) and to the legal economy (economic area).
In the port area, the Financial Police carries out security tasks together with the other police forces.
Immigration and Border Police
The Immigration and Border Police is a peripheral office of the Ministry of the Interior with specific tasks for border control and the maintenance of public order and security.
Ensures compliance with laws, regulations and orders of the authorities.
Customs agency
The Customs Agency, dependent on the Ministry of Economy and Finance, is a public body with legal personality responsible for controlling the entry and exit of goods from the national territory, whether they are materials following travelers that transport of goods.
