The ports of Venice and Chioggia prepare for the Venice 2024 Boat Show

Venice, 24 May 2024 – The ports of Venice and Chioggia will take part in the 2024 Venice Boat Show to engage the general public, leisure boat enthusiasts and all those interested in the Veneto’s thousand years of port history. From 29 May until 2 June, the Veneto’s ports will be represented at the Boat Show in the Port Authority’s 32-square-metre booth, set up in the section dedicated to institutions and overlooking the Arsenale’s dry dock.

Central stage will be given to the four leisure marinas of Venice and Chioggia (the two INNAVE marinas in Marghera and Malcontenta, Marina Darsena Le Saline in Chioggia and Marina di Lio Grando in Cavallino-Treporti) to showcase the services offered to yachters and interested operators, and to Venice Yacht Pier, the entity that manages moorings for yachts and super-yachts in Venice’s historic centre.
The space managed by AdSP will also host projects to disseminate port culture, including the continuously updated Android and iOS App called ‘Virtual Museum of the Ports of Venice and Chioggia’, that allows visitors to browse between a series of points of interest scattered around the historic centre of Venice, Marghera, and Chioggia, offering information on history, art, and industrial and logistical points of interested that have emerged in the area.
Another initiative, this time targeting a younger audience, is the Port Educational tool, a virtual, educational, multimedia instrument that provides an interactive and playful narrative of the centuries-old relationship between the lagoon towns and cities and the sea, also providing an overview of the current layout of the ports of Venice and Chioggia and the professions of the sea and logistics.

Finally, amongst the many initiatives promoted for the Exhibition, President Fulvio Lino Di Blasio will speak at the conference organised by the Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF), of which AdSPMAS is a member, on Thursday 30 May at 10:00 a.m. in the Sala degli Squadratori entitled ‘From protection to innovation: investments in infrastructure and sustainable revitalisation plans for Venice in the MOSE era’. There he will present the Authority’s projects, with special reference to those on environmental sustainability.
