Commenting the decision published today by the Council of State following AdSPMAS’s request for clarification on how to carry out the “Competition of ideas – construction and management of berthing points outside the protected waters of the Venice Lagoon”, the Port Authority’s President Fulvio Lino Di Blasio stated: “This ruling provides us with a clear and certain position on the rules of the game and the path we must take with reference to the competition of ideas. We can finally put this dispute behind us and proceed to perform the necessary study of alternatives outside the lagoon. This is such an important step because Venice has always been at the forefront in defining outlooks that anticipate the challenges faced by the port, in its relationship with water and nature”.
Di Blasio concludes: “This confirms that we have an important year ahead, as we gradually overcome the many issues we have been caught up in. There will soon be important news on the new large concessions, and in mid-May we will publish the two calls for port workers (pursuant to Art. 17) – one for Venice and one for Chioggia – the commissioner’s activities for cruises continue and the PNNR activities are being implemented according to plan. This ruling allows us to take another step forward. There is still much to be done and in the complexity of the Venetian context is increasing: therefore, each centimetre we gain is an achievement that requires the joint effort of the entire ecosystem, which must proceed as a whole.”
