North Adriatic Sea Port Authority at Connecting Europe Days

From 28 to 30 June the event “Connecting Europe Days” will take place in Lyon, with policymakers and businesspersons – as well as European Commission officials – discussing the role of transport and mobility in order to achieve the objectives set by the European Green Deal action, most notably the best practices developed as part of projects funded by the EU, outlined in an ad-hoc setting.

NASPA (the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority) will be attending this event with a stand dedicated to the project “Channeling the Green Deal for Venice” (https://www.port.venice.it/it/channeling-the-green-deal-for-venice.html), co-financed by the “Connecting Europe Facility (2014-2020)”programme, which deals with the issue of limited nautical accessibility of the ports of Venice and Chioggia, always mindful of the environment, and specifically of the Venice Lagoon, using an innovative scientific approach to deal – from both a structural and management perspective – with the issue of dredging and maintenance of canals to regulate nautical traffic and sediment flows, making navigation more sustainable in the main canal of the Veneto regional port system.

Moreover, the President of NASPA will also be there as Chairman of the association NAPAto illustrate the issues related to the Upper Adriatic area as part of the review process of TEN-T policies, more specifically by attending a meeting with representatives of the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor, scheduled for day one of the proceedings. Moreover, NAPA will have its own exhibition stand, dedicated to the main action lines of the project “ACCESS2NAPA” (https://www.port.venice.it/it/access2napa.html) – which is also financed as part of the European “Connecting Europe Facility” funding programme – coordinated by the Port of Ravenna and aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the ports involved (Venice, Trieste, Koper as well as Ravenna) through projects intended to improve last-mile accessibility by sea and land as well as to reduce the environmental impact of port operations through the cold ironing of some docks.
