The event dedicated to port and logistics culture closes with over 3,000 visitors
Over 3,000 people attended Port Days 2022, the national event promoted by Assoporti and organized locally by the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority. With its 12 guided tours, 18 primary and secondary schools involved, 3 seminars focusing on the main port-related topics and a concert, the event offered citizens, families and young people 8 days and 77 hours of initiatives and opportunities to get to know and experience the port of Venice and, for the first time, also the port of Chioggia.
The youth were the true protagonists of this year’s edition: pupils and students from primary, lower and upper secondary schools were involved in a range of initiatives in Venice and Chioggia, between the real and the virtual worlds. Thanks to Port Educational, a multimedia tool designed by AdSPMAS, younger children were able to learn through play how traffic and trade, ships and goods work, virtually at first and then in the real world, with guides showing them around the port areas. Venetian schools had the chance to use the game from May on, in the context of the ‘El Paron de Casa’ project which came to a close during the Port Days, when students could finally see live what they had previously learnt through the Port Authority’s web portal.
“This year’s event has met all our targets and expectations,” commented AdSPMAS president Fulvio Lino Di Blasio, “It was a great success in terms of public attendance, with many children and young people coming to see us; there was a renewed synergy among all institutional partners and initiatives were nicely integrated and deployed throughout the territory served by our ports. I wish to express my thanks in particular to the port community and the Harbourmaster’s Office for their involvement in all the initiatives – both those for schools and those for the general public – and to all the institutions who were partners in the event. It was a beautiful moment of recognition of our work, which celebrated the deep and historical bond that unites Venice, Chioggia, the lagoon and its ports. Now, building on the experience gained this year, we are getting ready to start planning the 2023 edition!”.
