The transnational cooperation project TalkNET (Transport and Logistics Stakeholders Network) comes to its end with the Final Conference that is held next Thursday, 16th July 2020, with an online event from 10.00 to 12.30.
During the meeting that can be joined by registering at the link www.talknet-final-conference.it, some of the leading international experts discuss the sustainable future of the European logistics chain.
Thanks to the co-financing of the European Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme, the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority – Ports of Venice and Chioggia – as Lead Partner and 14 other important European partners from eight different countries have cooperated, with good results, to make logistics hubs (ports and interports) more efficient and sustainable by supporting new services and investments in eco-innovation solutions and by promoting better coordination of freight transport stakeholders in the area of central Europe.
The project highlighted how the future of freight transport goes through last mile connections, the optimization of multimodal terminals, but also the improvement and activation of new intermodal services and for ECO-innovation solutions, such as alternative fuels and energy efficiency. The speakers therefore try to outline, at the end of the three years of project work, which scenarios could open up from now on, to create an increasingly sustainable logistics chain at European level and how we can benefit from the European Green Deal. The floor goes to the experts.
Within the TALKNET project, the port of Venice implemented:
- the upgrade of the railway ICT system for shunting operations (SIMA) in Porto Marghera, to improve rail accessibility and address the increase demand of rail traffic;
- conceptual study aiming at the realization of a logistic area within the Montesyndial area and the consequent container terminal adjustment;
- market study for a new rail shuttle service between the port of Venice and Verona Freight Village, in cooperation with ZAILOG Quadrante Europa.
