From 11 to 14 March, the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority attended MIPIM (Marché International des Professionnels de l’IMmobilier) with its own desk within the ITALIA Pavilion, organised by ICE (Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalisation of Italian companies), in collaboration with MAECI, MIMIT and Invitalia. The event is held at the Palais des Festivals in in Cannes and hosts Institutions, Regions, Local Entities, Central Administrations and other public and private stakeholders whose common goal is to present projects and opportunities to potential global investors.
MIPIM is the most important international event for the promotion and attraction of investments in strategic areas – last year alone it was attended by more than 20,000 participants from some 90 countries – and targets all real-estate sub-sectors, including the logistics-port industry.
This trade fair is just one of the many events in the port of Venice’s busy promotional programme for 2025: its aim is to exploit this particular occasion to discuss the main projects aimed at enhancing port assets with sector experts and investors from all over the world. The projects discussed included the new Montesyndial maritime-intermodal platform, the landscape and functional redesign of the waterfront of the Port of Chioggia, and the construction of facilities for logistics, mobility and other services.
The North Adriatic Sea Port Authority’s representatives also took advantage of MIPIM to present to both investors and stakeholders the Veneto Port System’s new localisation opportunity, at the centre of which is the Simplified Logistics Zone of Venice and Rovigo, which is endorsed by the Veneto Region: the goal is to develop an area of 4,681 ha that benefits of facilitated investment opportunities thanks to administrative (a single authorising body and reduced time) and economic (tax credit and additional regional funds dedicated to supporting productive investments) advantages.
In this context, the delegation of the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority, led by the Secretary General, Antonella Scardino, and supported by a team of experts, grasped the opportunity of its mission to Cannes to develop two types of activities: B2B meetings, where potential users were selected base on their cluster of interest (i.e. infrastructure, logistics, construction, investment funds); and interventions within the framework of the conferences and seminars promoted by ICE, including a technical report provided by the Secretary General, Antonella Scardino, at the thematic workshop entitled ‘Southern Italy and Waterfronts, held on 13 March in the Conference Area adjacent to the ICE booth.
