Description
Creation of margin works on the edges of the Colmata A, B and D-E banks, aimed at restoring the boundaries of the boxes themselves, currently affected by erosion, and at the morphological restoration of the surface of the Colmata boxes through wooden piling structures protected by cliffs of suitable size.
Economics
The cost of the work amounts to €23.5 million entirely financed by the Complementary Fund (PNRR).
Objective
The work is of fundamental importance for the nautical accessibility of the port, allowing not only the elimination of one of the causes of siltation of the canal itself, but also the preparation of a considerable storage area for the sediments which must periodically be dredged by the channel itself for its conservation.
Benefits
improvement of nautical accessibility to the Port of Venice;
increase in resistance to wave motion incident on the edge of the Canals;
interruption of the erosive process and consequent dispersion of sediments towards the lagoon;
possibility of restoring large surfaces intended for valuable habitats;
environmental improvement of the soil, water environment, water quality, landscape and fauna vegetation habitat components;
reduction of costs linked to the containment of environmental impacts.
