Description
Creation of an intervention to restore the environmental margin of a stretch of approximately 160 meters of the north bank of the Southern Industrial Canal of Porto Marghera. The new reconstruction intervention on the back of the existing damaged wall consists in the execution of a new combined wall made up of the coupling of large diameter piles interspersed with three traditional sheet piles.
Economics
The cost of the work amounts to €4 million entirely financed by the Complementary Fund (PNRR).
Objective
Support future port needs. The current marginalization work appears to have unsuitable performance for future port needs also due to the degradation to which it is subject as a result of direct exposure to the aggression of the marine environment.
Benefits
increase in resistance to wave motion incident on the edge of the Canals;
interruption of the erosive process of polluted land and consequent improvement in the quality of sediments and water in the reference area;
environmental improvement of the soil, water environment, water quality, landscape and fauna vegetation habitat components;
improvement of nautical accessibility to the Port of Venice;
reduction of costs linked to the containment of environmental impacts.
