Easyconnecting Project

The EASYCONNECTING Project aims at studying and analyzing all the main infrastructural bottlenecks and transport service inefficiencies in the Adriatic area in order to find&test proper solutions and put forward recommendations for policy-makers and national/regional representatives. These propositions are essential to develop a common strategy on transport and logistics ensuring the common development of the area in the near future.
In the project framework, Venice Port Authority is leading the improvement of ICT solutions aiming at standardizing and facilitate maritime procedures in the Adriatic area.

The Adriatic Port Community

Duration: 01/03/2011 – 30/06/2013
Project budget: € 2.557.000,00

“The Adriatic Port Community” project provided for the establishment of an Information Management System – the Global Single Window – among the port Authorities of Venice (IT), Ploce (HR) and Igoumenitsa (GR) open to future implementations in order to extend the Adriatic Port Community.

The improvements in procedures arisen thanks to e-platform translate in a significant increase in port efficiency and competitiveness and in several positive outcomes and spillover effects that are not always directly measurable. Still the direct and quantifiable benefits show the high feasibility and economic effectiveness of the project.

Benefits relating to land agents savings time, ship man savings time, saving fuel for waiting trucks, saving ships time and consumption have been measured analytically: the positive impact is estimated at nearly one million Euros only for the first year of functioning, out of a total investment of about three millions, including the EU contribution and the costs incurred directly by the partners.

In the Port of Venice the APC project acted as driving force for the improvement of the ICT applications, reaching the goal of the realization of new functionalities and features. The most important output is a new ITS prototype regulating the management of ship entrance and exit in port lagoon areas together with their permanence time in the same port. This output can act as useful tool for decision makers involved in the port management.
