Renewed partnership between the Port Authority and Venicemarathon: safe race course and first edition of the “Veneto Ports Trophy”

The partnership between the Port Authority and Venicemarathon is being renewed this year after the forced interruption in 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The Venicemarathon participants will run by the port waterfront at San Basilio and Santa Marta, before crossing the finish line in the heart of Venice's historic centre.

The Venetian port system and the event organisers have revived their technical and institutional collaboration to ensure an accessible and safe passage of the race through the areas under their jurisdiction.

In this 35th edition the Port Authority will resume the tradition of awarding the well- known Trophy to competitors who run the 10km race, with two novelties to celebrate the restart: the prize has been rebranded "Veneto Ports Trophy", to emphasise the inclusion of the port of Chioggia within the Veneto port system and it is linked to a humanitarian project focusing on the local territory, called "The Veneto Ports running for the Territory”.

Anyone wishing to take part in the Trophy, which is open to all members of the Community of the two ports – as well as to their family members and supporters – can also join the project: the top three finishers will name three associations to which the Port Authority will make a donation, in accordance with the criteria laid down in the official regulations.

The President of the Port System Authority Fulvio Lino Di Blasio stated:
“We are glad to welcome the Venice Marathon participants who will run through the port areas of Santa Marta and San Basilio: building a link between the port and the city is essential for mutual growth. This is why the Port Authority will be increasingly committed to supporting any initiative that can help raise awareness of how important the Veneto port and logistics ecosystem is for the local territory in terms of environmental, economic and social sustainability”.
